[Auth_ldap] auth_ldap and apache2

Hallo everyone,

I am still new to LDAP and need your help.

I have compiled apache-2.0.55 with openssl-0-9.8a and
with openLDAP 2.3.11 and it works well.
Now I have read that versions of auth_ldap prior to
auth_ldap 1.6.0 have security bugs. I want to install
auth_ldap 1.6.1.

Now that's where the problem starts:

1. what is the connection between openLDAP and
mod-auth_LDAP.
2. how do I install mod-auth_LDAP in my already
existing apache-2.0.55. Do I need it in the first
place?
3. Is it possible to use apache's apxs to install
mod-auth_LDAP in the form:

     /usr/local/apache-2.0.55/bin/apxs -c -i -a
mod-auth-LDAP.*  


Can anyone help me please.
