[Auth_ldap] authenticating against multiple groups in AD

Is it possible to authenticate a user against multiple groups in Active 
Directory?  We have successfully authenticated users to see if they 
belong to a specified group.  However, on Active Directory if a group 
contains other groups, the included groups are not used.  Each user 
must be added to the group explicitly in order for the authentication 
to work.  So, the other option would be for the htaccess file to check 
against several groups.  Any ideas?
