[Auth_ldap] disabling auth_ldap

Are there any directives to disable auth_ldap on certain directories? We
would like to be able to use it on our document root, but we don't
necessarily want just any student to be able to setup an .htaccess file in
their public_html directory and authenticate off our central campus ldap
server.
We do allow faculty, staff, and students to use .htaccess files, so
removing authconfig from the AllowOverride for home directories is not
really an option either. We just don't want them to be able to
authenticate off of ldap without our permission.
I've seen some authentication modules that have directives to be used
inside <Directory> blocks to turn the module on or off, but I haven't
found anything with auth_ldap that would allow us to do this.
